I'm thankful I didn't pigout

Earlier in the week I was a little worried about how I would do at Thanksgiving. I didn't know if I would be too willing to pile food on my plate and snack on everything in sight. Turns out that I had no trouble at all. If you look at my diary, you'll see that I just ate small portions of everything. I still ate a full meal but I didn't feel like I was going to explode or so full that I couldn't move for hours like years past. I've even lost a little bit of weight too.

None of the food tasted as good as it feels to lose weight or have the willpower over my mind to not overeat.

Now if I could just have the willpower to go exercise.

Closer to 300

It's been 2 months since I first took a picture of myself and started this site. As of today I've lost over 30 pounds. I'm down to 304 according to the scale this morning. I can't wait to get under 300. It's been at least 6 or 7 years since that was the case.

Be sure to check out my Progress page to see how I've done.

Egg substitute and vinegar

Sorry it's been so long since my last post. I'm still kicking butt on the diet. I've made a few more changes in what I eat. I had egg substitute for breakfast on Tuesday. As someone who loves eggs, it wasn't that bad. Having it on an english muffin (whole wheat now) and a slice of cheese product (Kraft single - not the healthiest) helps quite a bit. And there's no fat or cholesterol, high in protein and low in calories

I've also made my own vinegar combination for the sandwiches I make at home. It's mostly white wine vinegar with red wine vinegar. It's probably 3 or 4 parts white to 1 part red. I'm pretty proud of it and it tastes good on a sandwich along with spicy brown mustard.

I'm really disappointed in myself about not exercising at all. It's something I just have to make myself do. Not much else to say about that.

Cut out the mayo

So my last few sandwiches have been mayonnaise free. I've had an interesting relationship with that sandwich ingredient starting at a very young age. Growing up I hated it. I would have Miracle Whip on my sandwiches and wouldn't touch mayo. It wasn't until I was in my mid- to late teens that my eyes were opened to the awesomeness of mayo. It's weird that I can remember this but it started when I first visited Mr. Goodcents. I was with my aunt and uncle in Topeka at the time and had a turkey sandwich. A decent amount of mayo was applied to the sandwich. After just a couple bites, I was hooked and never had Miracle Whip on a sandwich again.

Went for a run on Thursday

So in my last post, I was pretty negative when it came to exercise. That must have been the old me because I went for a 30 minute run Thursday after work. I felt good afterwards, mentally anyway. My body ached but it wasn't too bad.

The diet is stil going well. While I'm making better choices and keeping portion size under control, my uncle showed me that I still have plenty of room to improve. It shouldn't take too long to implement most of his recommendations. Seeing before and after pictures of him, I can definitely see that it works.

I went ahead and weighed in again this morning just to see how I was doing after eating fast food twice on Saturday. I'm actually down a couple more pounds to 314. You can see from my diary that I went with healthier options instead of anything fried. I even stayed away from finishing anyone else's food as well.

Sure was chilly this morning

Went for a 45 minute walk this morning with my dad. We got started around 5:40 am and walked about 2.7 miles around town. It was pretty chilly out. I think it was still 30-something degrees out at that time. I wore shorts and a t-shirt with a jacket because I knew if we walked at a decent pace, I'd stay pretty warm. Turns out that's what happened.

It was nice walking with someone and it's always good to be able to talk with my dad.

The diet is still going pretty well. I'll update my weight on Friday but I can say that I'm under 320 pounds now. I hope I don't jinx myself by saying that.

Halloween

Halloween was going to be a big test. Would I be able to resist all of the delicious candy - the Snickers, the Kit Kats, the Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and the rest? Well, the short and unexciting answer is YES! I was  able to do so and I'm not having a huge craving for any of it. That's not to say I wouldn't enjoy it if I did.

Next test is tonight. My wife is making pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, one of my favorite homemade cookies. It's going to be tough.

Other than that, the diet is going great. I'm afraid that if I don't get up in the morning to go exercise, it's not happening. I talked to my dad today and we're going to start walking in the morning beginning this Wednesday. So we'll see how that goes.
